Visa Dramas For Aussie Kasey

Norway-based Australian Kasey Wehrman has landed in hot water after it was revealed he’d been playing in the Tippeligaen without a valid visa or work permit.

The 32-year-old former Perth Glory midfielder, who has been playing in Norway since 2001, was found to have not possessed the correct paperwork by the Football Association of Norway for over the last 12 months.

It was revealed Wehrman, who is currently with Fredrikstad FK, had played four matches in 2008 and 20 games in 2009 without the proper work or residential visas.

Fredrikstad acknowledged that figure was correct and that they had let their internal practices and procedures slip in the matter.

The Østfold county club will be fined 150,000 Norwegian krone for the error, while Wehrman's future in Scandanavia is in doubt with his contract running out at Fredrikstad.

There had been speculation Fredrikstad could've been docked points for the error, although they were relegated anyway over the weekend after a 2-0 playoffs loss to Sarpsborg 08 FF.

Wehrman, who had spent the latter half of this season on loan at relegated FC Lyn Oslo, has been linked with a move to England.
