Spurs To Dukes' Rescue

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp may hand Mark Viduka's ailing career a lifeline with reports linking the Australian striker with a loan move to White Hart Lane.

According to The Sunday People, Redknapp is said to be interested in a surprise loan deal for the big Australian forward until the end of the season.

The move would come after Tottenham lost out in their chase for Craig Bellamy and seem consigned to failure in the race for Roque Santa Cruz.

The move would rescue Viduka from his time at St James' Park which seems to be coming to an end with his current two-year contract set to expire at season's end and Newcastle highly unlikely to exercise a third-year option on the deal.

The 33-year-old Australian has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Newcastle and has become unpopular with the Toon fans who have labelled Viduka 'The Duke of Pork' and chanted 'You're not fit to wear the shirt' in his last appearance for the Magpies.

If Redknapp does offer Viduka an opportunity it would give the former Leeds United and Celtic hitman a chance to revive his career which seemed to be coming to an end, with talk of retirement or a possible return to Australia reported by the press recently.
