Dario Strikes Again For Nürnberg

as seen on au.fourfourtwo.com

Dario Vidosic fired FC Nürnberg one small step closer towards promotion to the German Bundesliga after scoring in a 1-1 draw at Greuther Fürth.

The 22-year-old Australian scored his second goal in consecutive games as Nürnberg maintained third spot on the 2.Bundesliga table holding off Fürth, who are also in the running for promotion.

After a goalless first-half, Vidosic got on the end of Pascal Bieler's set-piece cross and volleyed past Fürth keeper Stephan Loboue to give Nürnberg the lead.

With promotion at stake, the inexperienced Vidosic in just his second start for Nürnberg was proving to be the club's new hero having scored the winner last week as well.

But Nürnberg's joy was shortlived as Fürth's Stefan Reisinger equalised at the third attempt after a desperate goalmouth scramble on 57 minutes.

Vidosic, who was subbed off on 85 minutes after a busy display, probably had the best chance for either to win it late in the contest, when the ball fell kindly to him in the box but his effort was desperately blocked away.

The result means Nürnberg stay third on 53 points, behind champions SC Freiburg, who were promoted today with 64 points, and second-placed FSV Mainz on 54 points. Fürth and Kaiserslautern are fourth and fifth respectively on 52 points with three games to play.
