Time To Move, Mile

Derby County boss Nigel Clough has made it clear he believes Socceroo Mile Sterjovski's future is away from Pride Park.

The 29-year-old Australia international still has a year to run on his current Derby contract but his Rams gaffer believes it would be better for him to find a new club.

"I think the biggest thing for Mile is that he has to play next season because of the World Cup next summer but we can't guarantee him first-team football here," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph.

After Clough took over at Pride Park in early January, Sterjovski was on the fringes of the first team and was predominantly used off the bench.

But the Derby boss has made it clear he wants to trim the Rams squad and after using a number of youngsters ahead of Sterjovski in the club's final league fixture this season, it seems the two parties are heading in different directions.

Whether or not that means Sterjovski will head to Australia is another question but Clough revealed there had been contact made by A-League clubs.

"There is genuine interest in him from clubs in Australia," Clough said.

The Derby manager also acknowledged fellow Australian Ruben Zadkovich will probably be allowed to leave Pride Park this European summer too.
