Williams Sent On Africa Trial

Brondby IF have responded to David Williams's demands for game time by sending the young Aussie on trial with South African club Bidvest Wits.

Williams, 21, launched a public attack on the club after a frustrating 2008/2009 season where he was completely out of favour with new Brøndby boss Kent Nielsen.

And the Danish club have responded by confirming on Thursday, Williams won't be part of the Brøndby squad which will tour Germany and the Netherlands for pre-season and instead the former Brisbane Roar man has been sent to South Africa.

A press release on the official Brøndby website read, "David Williams will link up with Brøndby IF's summer club Bidvest Wits, who he will train with in the coming week with a view to a possible loan deal."

Following Williams' outburst earlier this week, Nielsen had responded in the Danish press by saying, "Generally, I have always said that football players must concentrate on what makes them better football players.

"I have more to say, but that will remain between David and I. Such things must certainly be handled internally," the Brøndby boss added.

"But in general, footballers must stick to what they are employed to do and it is the same in this case with David Williams."

Williams is contracted with Brøndby until June 2011, having signed a new deal with the club just last European autumn.
