Theo's Future Now In Doubt

Michael Theoklitos’s future at Norwich City is in doubt after failing to show up to catch the team bus for the Canaries’ 1-0 win over Gillingham.

The 28-year-old ex-Melbourne Victory goalkeeper was expected to take his place as the back-up stopper for the Canaries but the Australian failed to turn up and will subsequently face disciplinary action.

Disappointed Norwich boss Paul Lambert said later: "He let everybody down."

The Canaries gaffer added after the game: "Michael will be disciplined by the club when I go back. I'll speak to him before you lads. It is only right Michael will know what's happened.

"He should have been here, but he's not. Nobody is bigger than the club. You'll find out in due course. It's only right I tell the player himself what's happened.

"He let everybody down - that's all I will say. He let himself down and he let the group of players down and let the club down."

The Australian stopper has had a horror time since joining the Canaries from the Victory in the European summer, after a nightmare debut where he conceded seven goals.

Theoklitos hasn't played for the Norwich first-team since and his latest indiscretion could seal his fate at Carrow Road.

He has since been linked with a return to the A-League in the January transfer window, with either a return to Melbourne Victory or to join new club Melbourne Heart.
